"My husband developed cognitive impairment over the years, his speech became fragmented and communication difficult. The YDCare Speech Therapist came home, designed suitable exercises for his ability, and taught us how to communicate with him daily. Now he can express his thoughts more, and even his grandchildren can chat with him."
Mrs Ng
"After my father's stroke, the doctor recommended speech therapy, but frequent hospital trips were very inconvenient. YDCare provides home visits, saving us a lot of time and energy."
Mr Lam's Son
"The therapist is very patient, observing my mother's reactions, gradually teaching breathing and vocalisation techniques, and encouraging her to speak more. She has built confidence, and the results are very obvious."

Common signs include frequent coughing or choking during or after eating and drinking, a sensation of food being stuck in the throat, a "wet" or gurgly voice after swallowing, and unexplained fever or weight loss, which may indicate aspiration pneumonia. If you notice these symptoms, we recommend a prompt assessment by a speech therapist.
Yes. Speech therapists specialise in both communication and swallowing. Even if communication is unaffected, swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) are a serious health issue requiring professional intervention.
Give them plenty of time to express themselves without rushing or interrupting. Speak in a quiet environment to minimise distractions and use simple, direct sentences. You can also use body language or visual aids to assist communication. Our speech therapists provide personalised strategies to improve these interactions.
